There was good news in the Colorado labor market update for April. BLS reported that Colorado employment spiked by 11,800. This is great news, but not a sustainable level of growth. Over-the-month there was an increase of 12,000 in the private sector and a decrease of 200 in the government sector.

In addition, the State Demography Office released Census population data for the state’s incorporated places. As expected, Aurora, Denver, and Colorado Springs posted the biggest gains. Windsor, Erie, Castle Rock, and Commerce City were smaller cities with significant gains. Growth was typically greater in places with undeveloped land.
